  • Oct. 18th HS Player of the Week

    10/21/13 7:29 PM

To say that football runs in the family for this week’s DC Touchdown Club Player of the Week is an understatement.

Kyle Evans’ father, Vern, played quarterback and running back in college. His older brother, Galen, is a defensive lineman at Old Dominion University. And now, the youngest male in the Evans family is making a name for himself.

Kyle, a 5-foot-10, 175-pound senior running back, carried an astounding 41 times for a career-high 367 yards and three touchdowns in a 51-36 victory over Southern last Friday night.

Meade Coach Rich Holzer, who has the Mustangs primed for consecutive playoff appearances for the first time since the mid-1990s, called Evans one of the hardest workers he has ever had. Those extra sessions with his father have positioned Kyle Evans to also play in college. Evans, who also is the starting point guard for the Meade basketball team, holds a scholarship offer from Toledo and is hearing from recruiters at several other schools.
