I still think Mother Nature is going to give us a "gotcha" this winter; however, I don't think this'll be the storm, especially as it's coming from out of the west. Perhaps those in the know could correct me, but it seems most of our big storms have started in the Gulf? I hope we DO get some measurable snow, though. (and no, I don't consider an inch of snow as "measurable!")
In my experience here, the snowstorms you need to worry about are the ones they don't predict. If you see that snow estimates are creeping up as the storm nears, look out! However, I do not want ANY snow! A cold, rainy winter is perfectly acceptable to me. In a pinch, I would take "measurable" snow that melts by noon. (If you really love lots of snow, move to Canada! DC is not and never will be Moose Jaw!)
Guess I could say, "if you want consistently warm weather, move to Miami." But to each their own. I'm not asking for one of those storms like we had in 2010, but just a nice, decent snowfall that completely covers the ground. And no, I still don't' think that whatever we get tomorrow will be anything big. Now - as for "measurable" snow; well, maybe by the standards of NOAA and ASOS, but not my own standards. Here again, to each their own.
Of course this winter is going to be mild. First time ever in 25yrs I have put winter tires on my car. Prepared and nothing:-)
It's nice to see a little snow, but many of my friends and me included have gotten a little excited. Hard to believe I would be this excited over small event like this, just shows how drastic the winter has been. I'm a huge snow fan, but I have to admit, the warm winter has been most accommodating and pleasurable! :)
