IF IT DOES SNOW, LET'S ALL GO OVER TO GORDON'S HOUSE, BUILD A BIG SNOW FORT, AND HAVE ONE HECK OF A BATTLE. HE CAN TREAT TO HOT CHOCOLATE. I WANT TO BE ON ADAM'S SIDE.
With temps predicted to be in the Mid-40's I'm not sure why snow is being discussed at all. Wouldn't it just be a big rain event?
The snow could fall in the evening and at night when the temps have dropped. If it snows at all I doubt it will be an all snow event, and would most likely start as rain.
This will be another non-event. Even if it snows at night, the ground is warm.
This all seems wishful thinking on the part of snow lovers. The truth is that whatever snow falls, if any, won't last. The pattern this winter has been cold snap followed by immediate warmup. So much for the snow. The reality is that DC is not a mecca for winter enthusiasts. Heavy snows here are sporadic and infrequent which is why local government snow budgets are so meager and local drivers are largely clueless about winter driving.
I'd LOVE to see a good snow and I still think Mother Nature is gonna surprise us before winters' out. Well, if it's not this storm, the almanac on my calendar says Friday the 24th, we'll get snow??
"undeliverable mail;" you mention local drivers being clueless; that may be true, but we have to remember, between the government, military, embassies, etc., lots and lots of people in the DC area are from somewhere else!
It never ceases to amaze me that people in this area STILL get their panties in a bunch when they are calling for snow. It is winter people!
I get excited because I love snow; however, I know what you mean; you'd swear everyone lived a million miles out in the country - when snow is forecast, people mob the grocery stores, buying TP, snow shovels, etc. Don't people keep these things on hand?
I figure as long as we don't see Jim Cantore on the streets of DC, we're safe!!!
i think we dodged a bullet
