I live in Charles Co. and I will never forget that day. Seeing the destruction on television, of the aftermath of a tornado is devasting, but to actually see it up front and personal, my heart nearly jumped out of my chest. I had never in my life seen such destruction and I hope that I never will again.
I'm a teacher at Archbishop Neale School. I was there for the tornado in 2002 and I'm still here now. I had never seen the video about La Plata and our school; it's so beautiful and touching. It really made me remember those difficult days and all the people that helped our school and town get back on our feet. We just celebrated our tenth year of surviving and thriving after the tornado this past weekend. Thanks for the look back. It brought tears to my eyes to remember those difficult days so vividly. However, it was uplifting to see once again how our community rallied together after the tornado. Seeing some of my former students on the video reminds me how blessed we were to have this occur on a Sunday when no children were in the building.
