The storm just passed through Sterling. Some wicked thunder and lightning and brief heavy rain, but moved through very quickly. Still hearing thunder, but I think the storm has moved on already.

The sky is dark, I hear rumbles of thunder and it is incredibly still and oppressive...here in N. Arlington. I see so much lightning on the Doppler!

Is it true that positive lightning bolts are roughly ten times more powerful and can cause more damage during strikes, especially to transformers? Thanks in advance.

We are at Tyson's Corner, VA...just went through 2 power outages for 36 hours each, days apart. Can this storm cause another outage? It is 4:25 PM how often do you update the timeline here? It is set at 4:12. It stopped raining now, no high winds but is there more to come?

Out here in Stafford, VA and power is out. We are getting a ton of rain, but the storm is not as bad as last week's storm. Hoping power comes back soon!

South Stafford, it is raining, wind is blowing, thundering and lightning and the lights have flickered a few times. Hope no power outages here.

Out of power in northern Reston too. It's rare since our lines are underground.

Central Calvert County - rain, hail, wind, thunder and lightning...so far we have power but it's been going off for short bursts and coming back again

Hit us real hard here in Spotsy. just south of Fredericksburg on Lafayette near Harrison Blvd buildings without roofs, collapsed buildings and gas leaks! Some of my family was near Spotswood Baptist Church and it was like a tornado went through... equably scary at home with quarter size hail and high winds.
