Ya know what. Democrat OR Republican, Katrina was handled poorly. You can expect to help people if the director of FEMA is a moron. That being said, if people had listened and gotten out, the national guard would have been able to help more instead of spending two days picking people off their roofs. GTFO if u r in the path.
Mary, A lot of the people who stayed didn't have money to leave. Even if they did, there were a lot of people who in the process of evacuating were left stranded on major interstates because they ran out of gas mid-trip. I left 2-3 days in advanced and traffic was bumper to bumper. Its easy to say what you would have done and its easy to say what they should have done, but until its you broke with no where to go, perhaps you should refrain from making such judgemental statements.
