The northeast/ mid atlantic coast should be able to get above average snowfall for this year.
If the winter forecast is as accurate as the hurricane forecast, then no one has a clue.
The are you circled on the SST map was the Tropic of Cancer. The El Nino Region 3.4 is much further south (hint: along the equator). If Bob Ryan predicts a below normal snowfall... DC will get hammered.
You have a lot of technical information, but do not get to the meat of the question as to whether or not we will have an easier or harder winter or a big storm. And I don't see you answering those questions. Apparently, weather is weather, whether you can predict it ahead of time or not. Get a new crystal ball.
I believe he did forecast it..starting off warmer then usual the turning below average temps..snow below normal......that is too bad I was hoping for lots of snow!!
