So will it be EXTREMELY bad for us in Northern VA? Everyone I have talked says it won't be that bad...I would like to know for sure, how bad will it be for us in NOVA?

Virginia is severed by Dominion Power and NOVAEC. As far as I can remember, we've never been without power for more than 4-5 hours.

It will be bad. Those who think it is not, don't know very much about how weather works. This is more than just a Cat 1 hurricane. On the other hand, not as bad as if you were sitting on the coast in NJ and NY.
