Former Maryland State Official Gets Job Back

Kenneth Schisler got his job back, but he won't be reimbursed for his attorneys' fees.
Maryland's second-highest court has rejected an effort by the former head of the state's Public Service Commission to recover the costs of lawyers who represented him when he fought to keep his job. Schisler was effectively fired by the General Assembly in a law passed during a special session in 2006. He sued, saying only the governor could fire commissioners, and then only for incompetence or misconduct. The Maryland Court of Appeals agreed. After his victory, he filed an amended complaint seeking to get his legal fees back. The Court of Special Appeals dismissed that complaint on Monday.
Schisler resigned last January after Governor Martin O'Malley took office.
