Better not complain about the service level too much, knowing how this corrupt board operates they will raise the fares again complaining they could not meet the service needs and need the fare hike to do so.
I think there is no room for excuses when funding is coming from the public to keep metro running. Here is my issue: The other day I rode the train and then got on the metro bus using my fare card. I was supposed to be charged 35 cents but instead i was charged the regular fare $1.35. Metro decides that they will let all Metro bus rides be free on this coming SUNDAY when nobody works and uses the system the most. Why not reimburse us the same way you charged us, during rush hour on a week day. This is not fare to the people who are struggling the most. I am not satisfied with METRO at all! I have decided to car pool and split the cost of gas with coworkers who live in my area. When you say METRO is an aging system, i have to agree that it is indeed, however, with all the funding that has been coming in there is no excuse for not trying to make things better. ANd please for the sake of things, can they get more police on the trains and not standing at the kiosk running their mouths.
Can Metro be liable for those 4+ days making me late picking up my child or the person who may have lost their job because they were constantly late by 2-3 minutes and not from just waking up late, but Metro not being on time or train malfunctions - can Metro give them a job...
No to both questions, yet the fare hike was well needed to fix problems - right - what problems not time zone problems that is for sure!
The system is 40 years old and has never had a "major over haul"..because the Metro Board (which is made of up council members, congress members etc) never required it. Yet they blame the current Metro management/workers. Upper Management has only been here under two years (the management team before that 3 years), Lower Managament which most have been here years and are ready to retire has been struggling over they years to make it happen with what they have been given. Metro's problem is they (upper management) don't listen to those that are "actually doing the work." They are not even considering what people are saying.
When you step out there and try to make them listen...you get fired. So now no one is talking.
Incredible. Of course this "news alert" comes after the massive fare/parking increase. Thank goodness I now drive to work. And, remarkably get to work in a timely manner daily, at least 90% of the time.
