Cardin Pushes for Dedicated Funding Source for Metro

Metro is getting $34.3 million in federal funds to invest in upgraded rail cars and infrastructure.
The money was part of the big spending bill passed by Congress and signed by President Bush at the end of December. Senator Benjamin Cardin formally announced the funding Tuesday at Metro's expanded Shady Grove rail yard.
The Maryland Democrat says the money is important, but it's not enough. He and other lawmakers from the Washington region have been pushing for legislation to establish a dedicated funding source for Metro.
