Please know that most women who are abused don't leave just because he is remorseful. They don't leave because they truly believe he loves them and cannot believe that someone who says they love them would hurt them. It takes a great deal of strength to leave a man who says he loves you. Just as much strength as it takes to leave a man who threatens your life or the life of your child(ren). Preoccupied was correct is saying it gets worse when there is a court order. Especially since we do not have enough police to enforce them. I left my first husband after he beat me repeatedly, but not before I tried to kill my self first. That woke me up. But most women that are beaten, just can't believe it is happening to them. Please have compassion and not judgement for these women.

No matted what we and family members will say or do to encourage the victim to leave, it won't happen until the woman has had enough. When enough is enough, she will leave (if he doesn't kill her first). The men seem to get angrier when she gets a protective order, or takes him to court. He doesn't want people to know how he is treating her. They more or less try to isolate her from her family and friends. The number of victims lessen where the girl is from a close knit and large family (with strong willed men) who will not tolerate his behavior. Best motto is, no matter how you feel about a man, once he physically attacks you, leave. I know they cry and tend to be remorseful and sorry, but more than likely, once he hits you, you can be certain he will do it again.

You know, these stories are heartbreaking for the simple reason that, more than likely, the woman WILL go back with the abuser. I used to be a volunteer EMT and we'd get ambulance calls for domestic violence cases. We were there to HELP people, not arrest anyone, and many, many times BOTH the woman and man would come after us with bricks, baseball bats, whatever, and tell us to go away and mind our own business. And when the police showed up, many times the woman would go completely ballistic, "don't you take my man away!" I just don't know.......

And she'll go back for more of the same. Women need to watch "Forrest Gump" (again) and this time pay attention to the life lesson "Ginny" learned too late.

Domestic Violence is punishment on the victim mentally as well as physically. We would think the victim should have the judgement to get up and get out of it. Domestic violence has a brainwashing effect on the victim. Many people who are victims of DV need help in breaking the cycle. We have people like Tina Turner who can tell us first hand how bad it is. It took her time to fine the strength to get out before she actually made the break. Victims of DV are stalked, beaten, ignited on fire, shot, strangled and stabbed. Sometimes family and friends abandon them out of frustration because they don't make the break out of the abusive relationship as fast as those friends and family members want them to. They are people living in fear 24/7. Some are too embarrassed to tell anyone about the life they are subjected to. I don't see the victims as stupid, or weak. I see them as people in need of help and protection from the stupid and weak.

Well this is a very DISTURBING story but I don't feel sorry for the victim. The story reads "this isn't the first incident the couple".. the first time would have been enough to get me to take a walk. Being a guy this sort of thing rarely happens but this girlfriend knew of his weird and disturbing behavior and she should have left his butt. I bet when this is all sorted out she'll return to him. Some women NEVER seem to learn. If anyone out there has watched Maury they know exactly what I am speaking of here. There are men out there who want to be the whole cheese and be dominating and treat their girlfriend/wife like a robot. I hate I read this story. Women to me are God's gift to men. It's a shame some men don't appreciate women and treat them as equal in life. I hope the judge throws his carcass in the can until hell freezes over. I also hope this woman gets a clue.

He is showing you how crazy he is.....girlfriend, leave his ALONE!!! Run for the border. Once an abuser always an abuser. They never change no matter how much therapy or jail time they receive. Abuse only gets worse. Small beatings from him will eventually lead him to taking your life.
