D.C. officials are calling for changes after another pedestrian was struck this weekend in Northeast.
Authorities say a vehicle seroulsy hurt a pedestrian while they were crossing at the corner of 17th Street and Maryland Avenue, NE early Saturday morning.

Last year, 25 people lost their lives walking D.C. streets.
Meanwhile, residents, members of the police department, and even officials from the federal highway administration discussed the pedestrian safety Saturday.
Officials are considering significantly raising the fine for drivers who fail to stop for pedestrians at crosswalks.
They also say enforcement and education are the key to stopping the accidents.
