Well said Oneday! I agree and I was THERE! 65-70% of this group were under 20 and they are passionate about their future, and thankful that their mother was not among the 45 million since 1973 to have an abortion. The boomer-to-gen-x-er kids are standing up and saying HEY... you all were selfish. They were also mis or uninformed about the choices they had. And these so called religious fanatics have reached out to those who chose abortion. Even offering refuge for them via Rachels House. Please do NOT use blanket statements that we are an unwilling group of hypocrites. I know that the churches around here strive to offer many programs for mothers with children who struggle. They also offer adoption services. My husband and I have indeed opened our own home to children, hugs and all! We are certified foster parents and also certified for state adoption (which we cant WAIT to do!). And I am definitely NOT the only one of the marchers to do this. I lost count of how many adoptive and foster parents I came across. This was a very peaceful, but passionate march. The parks dept estimated 250-300k of our smiling faces attended the march! FANTASTIC! There was just this vibe there that you just KNOW a change is a-comin'! I love my country that allows for others to share opinion openly, just be sure to thank your mother for allowing YOU life to share it also.

Well.. you asked for our opinions and to me abortion is murder.. if every woman out there had abortions I wouldn' t be here writing. Now I do agree with abortion if a woman is raped and she doesn't want it. I can agree with it providing the mother's life is endanger but these cases are extreme.. a woman can always go the hospital and get checked..yep..it's murder..my spin..

Wow, some of you are really missing the point of the march. They are doing a peaceful protest saying it is wrong to kill an unborn life. They aren't necessarily saying that every woman needs to keep their child just because they are pregnant. They aren't saying that they are holier than you for believing in this position. If someone can't afford to take care of their child or does not want to have a baby, there are options out there beyond ending its life. They want to bring this awareness. Perhaps we just need a better system to make alternative options easier. That's where the government can help. There are actually a lot of pro-lifers out there who volunteer to raise supplies to give to mothers who can't afford to buy everything for their child. There are groups out there who help console women who choose to have abortion, and those groups are often Catholic. If you do your research before making a comment, you would see the number of support groups, charity groups, fundraisers, etc out there to help both mothers who choose to have the child and those who made the choice of an abortion. Check out Project Rachel. Does the Catholic church want their family to grow? Yes, but they don't tell a family in financial strife to keep having babies. They have classes for couples to learn to recognize signs of their bodies being in a fertile stage. They believe God will give them however much they can handle.

Are there religious groups of all faith that send out an extremely negative messages by doing nothing but argue, violence, and no action? Absolutely. However, for every negative person representing the pro-life movement, there is another person out there trying to make a difference. Remember that not every faith or person out there is a crazed fanatic.

>>> I could honestly say yes to all of those...

H Trainor - you *would* say yes but what the heck have you *actually* really done?

Your message tells me you would sit back and expect them to be cared for by a government program or poorly funded charities. How many of them have you brought into your own home. I'm betting none.

Shame on you. For denying a desperate women a choice and not doing anything personally to love the unwanted children you would force to be born..

I've lived in neighborhoods where poor women were forced to have children they didn't want, couldn't afford to feed, clothe, house and care for. I would see these sad children wandering the streets alone while a drug dealer boyfriend demanded services from the mother.

Let me just say that none of these holier-than-thou anti-abortion fanatics ever showed up to hug, feed or care for those children. I believe the term hypocrites applies.

That is bad enough but then when I read that those zealots refuse to even consider or discuss any exceptions for the victims of rape and incest, I find it totally unconscionable to force a rape victim to endure 9 months of pregnancy.

Exception for the life of the mother? They would have her die. What kind of a freak takes that position?

They disgust me.

And don?t even get me started on the Catholic Church demanding poor people continue making new-member-babies so the church can grow even though the parents can?t afford to feed, clothe or educate the children.

I could honestly say yes to all of those...

There are so many programs to help people in need, but honestly, I feel like people only call an embryo a human being when it is convienient for them; like when they try to clone them from thier skin cells and want credit for "creating" the first human life. The sad reality is that almost 100% of these children were created by "parents" that KNEW a consequence of thier action was the creation of a child. I pray for all of them....

as a pregnant woman in my late 30's, I have an issue with these "pro-life" people, including my in-laws....

every time they post their position, I ask them:

are you going to be there when that kid gets born to pay for the hospital bill???

are you going to be there to help the kid thorugh life, while knowing his/her mother couldn't and/or did not wanted to take care of him/her?????

are you going to be there to help that mother with baby-daycare costs, food, rent ect?????

because, if you can't answer yes to this question for every woman you are trying to impose your opinion unto, you have no standing to talk.....

I believe the controlling issue in abortion cases is (or ought to be) the legal principle of "standing". Who has the paramount right to make claims on behalf of the unborn child, which is wholly dependent upon and an integral part of the mother, not a separate person? Can the government as "parens patriae" override the decisions of the mother and her physician?

Overturning Roe is cheap talk for pandering politicians, but it would require the Court to ignore the conservative judicial principle of "stare decisis" or "stand by the decision". Reversal would also mean reversing other precedents which have established the right of privacy between a woman and her physician in making decisions about her body and dependent life within it.
