A 16-year-old Alexandria teenager narrowly escaped after a man attempted to abducted her. Fairfax County investigators say the girl was walking along the 8300-block of Richmond Highway last Friday afternoon when the suspect driving a black SUV pulled up beside her and tried to pull her into the vehicle.

The girl was able to break free and ran to nearby Mount Vernon High School where she reported the attempted abduction to school administrators.

ABC 7 News myTAKE - What's Your Opinion?Authorities say she was not injured.

Police are describing the suspect as a white or possibly Hispanic man in his 30's. The suspect had a chubby face with gold capped teeth. The suspects SUV had horizontal chrome stripes, a chrome grill, chrome rims and large tires.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS(8477) or Fairfax County Police at 703-691-2131.

Ithe 8300 block, we find two gas stations, a small shopping center, an office center, and businesses. A straight path to MVHS passes by ISA, residences, the county swimming pool, possibly Riverside Elementary School (depends on the exact path run) ... simply does not add up IMHO.

Now on the details of the grab - most can 't reach the door handle on the other side of an SUV much less reach out to grab a teen. Anyone attempting to pull a teen in through the driver's door, then get under way ... well, they asked for it.

Hope the police run down this story and that WJAL does a followup. If it is true, then be alert. If it is false, then jail her. Either way, someone should be going to jail.
