Arlington County police are investigating a female patient's claims of a sexual assault by a male nurse at Virginia Hospital Center.

According to authorities, the patient was assaulted in separate incidents last week under the guise of the male nurse giving her a massage. Fifty-one year old Adebowale Adefolaju of Lanham is a licensed nurse, but police say he took patient privilege too far.

He was arrested and released on his own recognizance while facing a charge of sexual battery. Wednesday evening, an ABC 7/NewsChannel 8 crew went to Adefolaju's home, but he turned off the lights refusing to show his face.

Virginia Hospital Center issued a statement saying they are working closely with the Arlington Police Department. The accused male nurse, who was a contractor, was fired.

Arlington detectives now want to know any other patients were inappropriately touched by the suspect. They are encouraging anyone who knows anything about the incident or other incidents to come forward.

Police state that the investigation is ongoing.
