Boil Alert Issued for Walkersville
posted 5:49 am Mon January 28, 2008 - Walkersville, Md.
Walkersville officials are advising residents to boil tap water after a manure spill upstream from the town's water management plant. Town commissioner Chad Weddle says a truck filled with manure spilled last week and officials later learned that the farmer responsible was pumping the manure into Glade Creek.
Officials say the boil water advisory is a precaution in case the spill has contaminated the water pumped and treated at the plant.
The town recommends residents, particularly infants, the elderly and those with poor immunity, who use town water to boil it for at least one minute before using to cook or drinking it until further notice.
