Fire officials say five people were displaced by a two-alarm blaze that broke out Sunday night in Southeast Washington.
The fire started in an unoccupied duplex in the 3300 block of Martin Luther King Junior Avenue, Southeast around 7:30 p.m.
D.C. Fire and EMS spokesman Alan Etter says the fire spread to an occupied single-family home next door. He says the flames were so intense for a time that firefighters were pulled out of the buildings, but were eventually able to go back inside. Etter says an adult and four children were displaced, but no one was hurt.
