Drwho, how can you say this is abused by the police. Most officers that I know have backed down on the amount of people charged with the higher traffic offenses. Why is it that everyone always wants to put the blame on the cops who are doing what the people hire them to do. I take it that you feel it is ok for people to run up the back end of others and do 80 to 120 because they think they can. What genious idea do you have to stop these people from doing what they want on the roads. No matter what the state does, people like you want to say that it is stupid. Well I'm a little sick and tired of people cutting me off and running up my tail all the time because they can't get there lazy butts up on time to go to work or they live 80 miles from there job. Why not throw some ideas out there and let us know what you would do about the problem. Or are you one of those on the road that feels everyone else including the cops a a burdon to you? I also don't suppose you feel that a person with a minus 30 driving points are a problem too? As for the bicycle rider, I guess you don't read the paper and see how many bicycle riders are involved in accidents or the cause of accidents every year, if they use the road, they are subject to the same rules and regulations as everyone else.

the only thing we can do is to ensure we do not re-elect anyon who passed this in the first place.

If we aren't going to re-test drivers.....ever !!!...there has to be some way to curb the dumb ones. Money ALWAYS gets peoples attention...alot more than revoking their license.

John61, you should think about what you say about the constitution because look at the Government look at the CURRENT PRESIDENT. He running this country under the CHURCH not the Constitution. Because the Constitution of The United States states the government shall be run separate and from the church. The basic like is Separation of Church and States. That is the reason the founding fathers came here, its because the OLD country is ruled by the Church.

John, are you aware of the case where a person riding a bicycle was charged under the abusive driver fee. The bicycle rider will have to pay three hundred dollars a year for three years. You think that is fair, how many people are killed every year by careless bicycle riders. Do you think all Police and Courts are treating this abusive driver fairly. This is not fantasy land and these fees have been abused by Police and Courts.

Don't know if you have ever noticed but, we live under a set of laws our forfathers gave us know as the Constitution. The supreme court of Virginia was only making a decision based on that small piece of paper that we all live by. This should not be repealed anyway. Why not let those that drive like idiots pay for our new roads. The law was not given enough time to see if it had an impact on bad drivers. They should have just added all other states to be included. The only ones who wanted it repealed were those that were getting caught. Obviously, there were alot of politicians and there family's getting caught, why else would you want to repeal something that could slow the idiots down.

Uhh, why are we still living under archaic laws? Especially one from 130 years ago. Maybe a system where the laws must be reviewed and reenacted on a more consistent basis rather than letting it sit for 130 years might be a good law to pass.
