Catholic University says two of its students are designing the altar Pope Benedict XVI will use when he celebrates Mass at a new ballpark in April.

School officials say 23-year-old John-Paul Mikolajczyk of Staten Island, New York, and 24-year-old Ryan Mullen of Manchester, New Hampshire, won a competition to design the altar. Both students are master's degrees candidates at university's School of Architecture and Planning. Tens of thousands of people are expected to attend the Pope's service at the new Nationals stadium.
