posted 4:24 pm Tue January 29, 2008 - Washington
A 46-year-old detective with the Metropolitan Police Department in D.C. was indicted Tuesday, accused of assault.
The Superior Court grand jury charged Jose Medina with one misdemeanor count of simple assault, according to U.S. Attorney Jeffrey Taylor. The indictment comes after a prisoner claims Medina assaulted them while they were arrested inside the Third District detective's office on October 14, 2006.
An arraignment date was not set by the court.
If convicted of the charge, Medina faces 180 days in jail and/or a fine of $1,000.
