Workers Who Spotted Noose Speak Out

A noose was found at the site of the Nationals' new stadium last week led to firings and problems on the job for the workers who reported it.
Four construction workers with the electrical subcontractor, Truland Systems, were fired after the noose was discovered in a break room last Friday.
Wednesday, four electricians addressed members of D.C.'s City Council with their concerns and frustrations after finding a noose on the job.
"I don't know if it was a joke, prank, but it was uncalled for." Explained one of the workers. "I'm kinda jumpy at home and we shouldn't have to be like this."
Councilmember Kwame Brown says he's been inundated by people voicing their opinion about the noose and the subsequent firings, with several people saying it was merely a bad joke.
"There is nothing funny about a noose." Brown said. "It's the symbol of killings of thousands of african americans into the 21st century."
D.C. Sports and Entertainment Commission officials say it's not the first allegation of racist behavior at the job site. Less than a month earlier, five black electricians were fired after a Truland worker criticized their work and made what they believed were racially derogatory remarks.
Officials with the sports commission say the employee who had the noose was in his first day on the job and they don't believe the two incidents are connected.
Brown is hoping that the subcontractors will enforce new policies and procedures to ensure situations like this one are dealt with.
