Sounds like a posterboard for land speculators, developers, lobbyists and greasey politicans and their media croonies. If you want to work in D.C., move to D.C. This white elephant is not needed and is not wanted in Virginia. It will do absolutely nothing to ease any traffic congestion which is created by the same slimey politicians and developers that now say " something has to be done about it." And since the politicians arte using Dulles Airport as their main excuse to justify another project against the will of the taxpayers, how about moving that airport into D.C.? Think of all the jobs that would create and all the traffic congestion it would alleviate. And while we're at it, let's complete I-95 through D.C. to take the strain of f of that monstrosity of a new Woodrow Wilson Bridge.

Bottom line is we don't want this stupid train line and we don't need it either; and we live here.

It looks like the end of the developers' dreams - and all of the goodies they bring for the politicians - are coming to an end.

If transit is needed along this corridor, then startup a premium high speed bus line - NOW! Not in 2012/15. It will be far less expensive, can be in place far sooner, and is more flexible than a train line. If bus service was available that ran very frequently for the whole day on buses that were clean and comfortable at a low cost, then more people would use a bus. Take the Loudoun Transit buses that run to D.C. - many of these are full. Why not more?

Because if it were in place and working, it would take away the incentive for this boondoggle.

Some will say that a bus isn't appealing. I rode the bus from the Herndon park and ride to West Falls Church and then the Metro to D.C. The bus was far more comfortable (A/C and a seat) than the train (a/c only in some cars and no seats). Give me the bus any day.

AlexandriaVA, you have the right idea! We need a better transportation system. And as for all the people complaining about the cost, think of this: If the transportation system continues to get worse, businesses will start leaving the area. They won't stay if their customers can't reach them, and their employees spend hours each day getting in and out. If the companies leave, they take all that tax money with them. We NEED a good, reliable, and responsive public transportation system in this area, and we need it to continue to be viable. Therefore, if it takes tax money, then that is what it takes. This isn't about saving money or about who benefits, its about making the greater DC Metro area a decent place to live and work. We need the rail into Dulles. We should also get it to go out into Louden, and into Manassas counties. A LOT of people live in those counties and work in DC. Improved public transportation will enable us to get some of the cars off the roads. We need to operate more like NYC, where everyone uses public transportation.

Spend Spend Spend.......who cares how it will be paid for? Maybe we should kick some people out of welfare to pay for the rail project.

It would help to have a serious mass transit system in the D.C. area. Just think about how much traffic would be reduced on I-66, and the beltway if there was a metro line out by the Dulles Airport, and beyond. It would be great for those commuters, and if there was a large park, and ride garage built out there, it would generate an increase in metro ridership, and sales. However, as usual, money, and politics will probably kill the idea. Everybody complains about traffic in the D.C. area, but nobody is willing to do anything about it. Toll lanes, and increasing the number of lanes does not solve the problem. We need a better bus system, and a better metro system. Metro has been mismanaged from the begining. We can't just keep cutting off upper management's head, and replacing it, we need to reorganize the whole system. Metro should not be designed as a money making venture, but should be designed as a public service. I do not know many public transportation systems that actually generate money. Japan, and Hong Kong seem to have their act together when it comes to public transportation. Let's study their systems, and learn.

OK I will be the first to admit that bush is the cellar dweller in terms of presidents but is EVERYTHING his fault? Pretty sure the petty bickering by the FFX County Board of Supervisors had a little to do with it.

Or, it could be because there will be years of major construction right down the middle of an already congested corridor. Or, it could be many people paying for it wouldn't actually use it. Or, it could be that the major proponents are commercial developers along the toll road corridor. It could also be that people that live in most of Loudoun County would still have to drive (sometimes a great distance, and over a private toll road to get to it.

One thing for sure - if it is canceled the tolls that were raised to pay for it WON'T be lowered and the taxes put it place won't be repealed.
