(Sports Network) - O.J. Mayo scored 21 points and grabbed six rebounds, as the Memphis Grizzlies topped Dallas, 102-82, to snap a 13-game losing against the Mavericks.
Coming into the contest, Memphis had lost 18 of the last 19 meetings with Dallas, and not beaten the Mavs since a 112-92 victory on November 26, 2005.
Marc Gasol added 19 points, while Rudy Gay and Hakim Warrick each scored 18 points and grabbed seven boards for the Grizzlies, who snapped a four-game losing streak overall.
Dirk Nowitzki had a game-high 28 points for Dallas, which had a three-game win streak broken. Jason Terry added 18 points, and Josh Howard chipped in 12 in the loss.
Gasol led Memphis in a game-opening 13-4 run, scoring nine points. The Grizzlies held the margin, and led 35-25 going into the second quarter.
Memphis had just two points in the first 5 1/2 minutes of the second stanza, but Dallas scored just eight over the same span -- Jose Barea's free throws were the final two of those eight, bringing Dallas within 37-33.
The game was back-and-forth for the remainder of the half, as Memphis held a 50-45 lead at the intermission.
The Mavs opened the third quarter with a 13-5 surge, going ahead 58-55 on a Howard jumper with a little over seven minutes to go. But Memphis, moments later, responded with a six-point burst to take a 65-60 edge on a Warrick basket, and the Grizzlies led 76-68 going to the final quarter.
Dallas scored the first four points of the fourth, but didn't draw closer, as Memphis followed with a 15-4 run. Mayo ended it with two free throws for a 91-76 lead with 4:16 to go, and the Grizzlies cruised to the win from there.
