Washington - A water main break continues to tie up traffic  near the Verizon Center in Washington's Chinatown neighborhood.

Officials say traffic on 7th, H, F, and 6th Streets will be affected as crews work to restore the main. As a result, fans planning to attend the Georgetown game against Syracuse Wednesday are urged to use Metro. Officials say the main break is not expected to be repaired until Thursday afternoon.

The Water and Sewer Authority in D.C. has shut off water supply to areas east of 7th Street. The shut off is affecting restaurants and condos in that area.

Crews closed 7th Street between G and H streets near the Verizon Center, starting at 8 a.m. Wednesday. WTOP-FM reports the problem was discovered when a transit bus slid down an icy street. The D.C. Water and Sewer Authority is working to fix the problem.
