Two people were arrested Friday morning in connection with the theft of GPS devices from cars and police are looking to see if the suspects are connected to a recent GPS theft that happened the weekend before.

The two 21-year-old men from the District were arrested in the 1000 block of Joyce Street in Arlington, near Pentagon Row. Nearly two dozen cars in the area of 28th Street and Walter Reed Drive were broken into before 8:30 a.m. Maggie Goldwasser was one of the victims, "Glove compartment was open and that's where I keep my GPS and it was gone. Not happy.  Not a great way to start the day."

The two men went from parking lot to parking lot in South Arlington, allegedly stealing GPS devices, iPods and other electronics. They also hit five cars belonging to faculty at Wakefield High School. Saul Reyes had a $1,000 worth of gear stolen, "You would think, you know, that you're in a safe area and also being in the school. You would think that there's security, but you know, apparently, you can still get away with things."

At the Arlington condominiums Cathy Kurvers was relieved that she remembered to take her GPS out of her car, still, they busted her window and stole the device's $50 mounting system.

"It's one of those stupid crimes that people, you know, obviously someone desperate for money and I'm sorry that they are desperate for money but they didn't have to take it from me," said Kurvers.

ABC 7 News myTAKE - What's Your Opinion?Police say last month alone 50 GPS devices were stolen in Arlington, that's in comparison to just six last January.

Authorities say it's an easy crime for the criminals to commit.

"If they see the GPS device, they grab it real quick and they're gone and it's very hard to catch them and that's why we are very thankful that we did catch a couple of suspects Friday," says John Lisle with the Arlington County Police Department.

As of yet, no charges have been filed against the men.
