Fire Engine Strikes Pedestrian

A D.C. fire engine struck a pedestrian in Northwest Saturday night.
Authorities say the man was struck at the corner of 14th Street and Randolph Street, NW around 12:30 a.m.
Police say as Engine 11 approached the intersection with its lights and sirens flashing, the 43-year-old victim suddenly darted across the street.
The man was transported to Washington Hospital Center's MedSTAR Unit in critical condition.
The fire engine stayed on the scene.
Investigators say the victim was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident.
