Most of you guys do not know which battler I am, but "spareme"...i wanted to know which 2 battlers could rap?lol naw I'm just kidding [but i still want an answer]. Yeh I am not going to say which battler I am. I am not going to say much except the fact that I am taking AP Biology, Pre Calculus and I am in Science & Tech. I love rapping, but overall I am just a funny individual once you get to know me. I am NOT a thug, or a ganster. I don't live in Greenbelt, I am attending Roosevelt throught Science & Tech. My Average GPA last year was a 3.67 [when I was part of Fight Klub]. This year, although I am taking all Honors Classes, along with Running Track and Playing Football, I am struggling with a 3.33 lol.

Well I just wanted to Erase any Stereotype that you might have had about the battlers, because I AM ONE OF THEM!lol Fight Klub is Harmless, believe me, and I just don't want the wrong images being brought up, because all we wanted to bring was HUMOR and an activity AFTER SCHOOL to entertain our fellow classmates. Just believe me when I saw that the battlers were meant to be portrayed as HUMOROUS INSTEAD OF VIOLENT.Just believe me when I say that there was never an occurence of violence. Especially at Eleanor Roosevelt High School. The Home of The Raiders. Fight Klub show-casing Lyrical TALENT is just ANOTHER REASON WHY Roosevelt is one of the Best High Schools in the NATION.

Thank-you for listening.. Anonymous Battler..

I sat up last night and watched all 89 video clips on youtube...looking for my son in the crowd and any faces I knew. Lucky for them they either weren't there or the camera didn't pan their way. Although these kids say it is just rapping and it is freedom of speech..it is disturbing. These kids talk about murder, duct taping & raping women, robbing & theiving, sex with folks great grandmothers...what in the world...that is way past the dozens. You see these kids getting mad at what is being said to and about them. Folks in folks faces, talking smack. Sad part is they are just repeating what they hear and see on tv. They are just trying to be "cool". Not realizing...that their raps suck and they need their mouths washed out with a wire brush!! (honestly only 2 can rap). All you hear is B this and N that...come on...so you not know any other words.

I would like to see the grade of these kids. I would like to see what "productive" activities they participate in...on video some still had on their ROTC uniforms...talking about killig and raping...is that what you learn in ROTC?

The school wants the system to get involved however the school hasn't even contacted parents. The school wants the system to get involved but most of these tapes (most were done in May and June 07 I saw nothing new..I am going to myspace next) were done on school property. Where were the administrators, school security and the police officers that are assigned to the school. If you must leave school property once school is dismissed how could this have been taped? If you must be in class durning school hours, how could this have been taped? Roosevelt wants this to stop..start with the kids (and their parents) on tape rapping and watching!!

Blah, blah, blah.....yo. Yeah, you Greenbelt thugs really have it rough. You're right. Good thing you have this club or else you might be out killing people. That alone is enough reason to keep the fight club going. I mean the juvenile angst of these roughneck rappers might just boil over, and then we'd be sorry. Because we don't know about struggle. Nobody understands how tough life is, except for the high school kids in suburban Maryland. The lyrical diarrhea of a few pimple laden MTV groupies who are so desperate to convince each other of how hard they are. Good luck.

Thank you very much "anotherrooseraider", you captured what I was trying to say very well. I also love your view on the story. The reason my grammer was the way it was is because I have homework and I dont want to spend my time arguing with adults who cant relate to what goes on because they have never been to our fight club. It is a very insightful expierence. I apologize to Eboy, I should not have spoke about you since I dont know you but i do dissagree with you and "spareme". Like I said before, I enjoy the Roosevelt Fight Club and I dont think we are going to stop. I would also like to add that "anotherrooseraider" made a great point when he said "I don't understand why we are put down for this type of stuff when it is shown, portrayed, illustrated, defined, and given to us in mass media". We are not followers but we are just rapping what the audience wants to hear. I still believe "ABC 7" should change their view on this story. Its a good way to excercise "Freedom Of Speech" from the Bill of Rights which we are taught to do in Government. Eleanor Roosevelt High School is a fantastic educational place that I enjoy attending every single day. Again, thanks for reading if you did. =) haha.

I agree with Rooseraider. I do not appreciate you tearing down one of the best schools in PG county. Not only do we strive academically but athletically and socially as well. First off, the fight club does not encourage violence and none of it takes place because of this club! We are only expressing our views without any hard feelings afterwards. Secondly, I don't understand why we are put down for this type of stuff when it is shown, portrayed, illustrated, defined, and given to us in mass media. Entertainment now a days promotes these messages with rapping, singing, dancing, for all types of cultures. If you tear down Roosevelt, other schools and the entertainment that you have shown, should be as well. There are so many other clubs that are not acceptable that aren't even put out there, like this was, that are worse. Third, those people interviewed were only a select few that do not represent the entire population of Eleanor Roosevelt High School and are biased. This story doesn't compare to the ACTUAL violence in the world, in Maryland, in PG county.

Eboy
I did read it rooseraider, and thank you. I am a product of the public school system.

Ok as a parent of a child in ERHS I am bothered. My son is a Jr there and this is the first I have heard about it. The school has said NOTHING. SO after reading this article I did what any parent should do...I called my son in the room and asked 2000000 questions. Apparently it is like a "rap off". He said it happens "across the bridge"..which is a foot bridge that connect Greenbelt to Old Greenbelt. He claims he hasn't attended in over a year (suprised to me because again I knew nothing about it). He also stated it is harmless however history has shown that people get killed over "rap offs". I informed him to stay his happy ~~~ away from this "club". Because when males feel they have been embarrased they tend to act out...history has shown this also.

rooseraider: Ok love...what kids feel is harmless most of the time flips on them. As for Eboy's comments..they are directed to the public school system..not you and as you say he is excersing his "freedom of speech". If his (hence the name EBOY) offended you how can you deal CALMLY with getting dissed to your face??? Additional as a parent to a child in this school, and I am sure you know him, you make the teachers look bad (and the teachers do a good enough job of that on their own) i.e. Yall is not a word. What the people are trying to say to you is although you feel you can deal..you never know how the next man will act...by being dissed.

As for the school..I am a product of PGPS. I am not pleased that they have not contacted parents, since it is such a concern. The teachers don't seem to care, the counselors or teachers don't return calls or emails. Roosevelt use to be such a "prestigious public school" now it is going down hill. Students use to beg to get into ERHS. I was just there last week and I must say...IT SMELLS TERRIBLE and the kids are "just hanging out".

As rooseraider said the roosevelt fight klub is what us teens do as apose to killing people for no reason. When they rap its all in good nature. Nothing is actually ment to be taken to heart. It's just to see who is actually more lyrically talented. I prefer to see some type of apology, retraction, or something because the whole thing is flat out wrong.

novanewsjunkie2
Thanks for proving Eboy's point rooseraider. I bet that your English and Grammar teachers are mighty proud of this post. Your complete butchering alone is enough for someone to decide not to send their child to a government run school.

rooseraider
Alright! WOW! Yall Gave Us A Really Bad Name. There Have Been No "Physical Acts of Violence". and i know this because ive been there at every single one of the battles. We Just Rap. Thats It. Yall sitting here saying we are bad examples of government schools but this goes on with adults. There are famous Rock, Rap, Hip Hop, and even country Artists who have said things to the same extent. You cant blame the government school system. Eboy is speaking on somthing he/her has nothing in common with or will ever know about because he is probably a private school collage graduate who has never struggled his entire life. Dont speak on a subject that you have no clue about. (i have no problem u got a private school education but dont speak on us when you dont even know us) Also you should support the roosevelt fight klub, not degrade it. We are out there speaking our minds (excercising freedom of speech) and not fighting and all you can do is critisize in the worst way. Thats just sad. At least we arent out there killing people or fighting everybody. There are adults that do the same thing we do but they are not on the news for it. I dont really care we were on the news, thats kind of cool but the fact that you just down us for it yet we have a large audience who love to watch it. Thanks for giving us the publicity. I believe you should change your viewpoints on this because your simply wrong. This is coming from a student who attends Eleanor Roosevelt High School in Greenbelt, Maryland and I like the roosevelt fight klub. It makes us different that we actually have this type of lyrical talent in our school. it would be different if we were out there beating each other up but this is a regular bunch of children just expressing lyrics that the audience wants to hear. Thanks for reading if you did.

Yet another reason to keep your kids out of government schools.
