Investigators have determined that white powder thrown at the Wilson Building in downtown D.C. is harmless and appears to be table salt. D.C. fire department spokesman Alan Etter says workers were held in their offices at city hall for nearly two hours as a precaution while a hazardous materials team analyzed the powder.

Pennsylvania Avenue also was closed to traffic in front of the building during the investigation.

ABC 7 News myTAKE - What's Your Opinion?Etter says a man walked into the Wilson Building's lobby about 10 a.m. and threw several ounces of the powder after getting into a confrontation with a security guard. The man then ran from the building.

It took them two hours to figure out it was salt? I know some 6th grade science students who could have figured that out in 15 minutes.
