National Airport Records Busiest Year Ever in 2007

Travelers flying in or out of Dulles and National airports last year had plenty of company.
The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority says 2007 was the busiest year ever at Reagan National Airport in Arlington, with an estimated 18.7 million people taking trips. It's an increase of more than 100,000 people from the previous record set in 2006.
The Airports Authority says 24.7 million people took trips to or from Dulles International Airport in Chantilly last year, the second busiest year in Dulles' history.
The busiest year came in 2005, thanks to the popularity of the now-bankrupt low-fare airline Independence Air. At its peak, Independence had about 600 daily flights at Dulles.
