Montgomery County officials are offering free acupuncture treatments to recovering drug users.

The treatment involves inserting fine needles in specified areas around the ear to relieve anxiety and pain. It's intended for use with treatments such as medication and therapy. County Council member Duchy Trachtenberg sponsored the $20,000 measure. The money was used to hire a licensed acupuncturist to train about 30 health providers to perform the procedure in jails and outpatient treatment centers.

ABC 7 News myTAKE - What's Your Opinion?More than a dozen people opted for the treatment this week.
