I know many of you have seen people pulling out of their driveways in the morning with their cell phone glued to their ear. I don't understand what they are considering? Make it the law for everyone, regardless of age.

AMEN

Yes. Unfortunately, we need a law to tell us this, because it IS happening.

Will this ban also apply to police officers who are using the computers in their cruisers to surf the web and chat on yahoo? It seems that every time I see an officer on the road they are surfing or chatting

I cannot imagine WHAT would be that important to say or hear unless there is a literal life or death emergency, that people need to be using cell phones or laptops while driving. If you're holding that phone in one hand or have it braced with your head, or are typing on a laptop, there is simply no way that you could keep control of the steering wheel, esp. in a sudden emergency situation. Personally speaking? I don't want to be killed while I'm out on the road simply because some idiot was text messaging his girlfriend and not paying attention to his driving.

For goodness sake. It's common sense not to text while driving. Do we really need a law to tell us this?

Americans are loosing our freedom one law at a time, even faster with technology advances and the dumb stuff people seem to want to do. I don't get it -- text messaging while driving??? Driving is a more than full time job. Any distractions can be deadly as potential accidents can happen in an instant if the driver is not paying attention. Come on everyone, Drive Like You Have A Brain !!!
