Walkersville Considers County Water Connection
posted 11:15 am Fri February 15, 2008 - WALKERSVILLE, Md.
Town officials in Walkersville are thinking about permanently connecting the town to the Frederick County water supply. Walkersville has had a temporary connection to the county system since late January, after a pair of manure spills threatened the local water supply. It was the second time in nine years that the town needed a temporary above-ground water connection because of contamination.
Burgess Ralph Whitmore said Wednesday a permanent hookup would be costly, and he asked his staff to find out if grants would be available to offset some of the costs.
The underground line would run about a mile along state Route 194.
