preoccupied--i haven't heard that the driver tried to leave(expect i post from another story) and i hope that wasn't true. could it have been after impact the car was still rolling? or maybe the driver was dazed? i am hearing now that he was driving on a suspended license.

yes, most know that this is used as a race track, but i still can't understand why some people feel as though the police should have been just sitting out there. we know people rob, kill, steal everyday, but it's impossible for police to forsee all this and be there. now if the calls came through and noone was dispatched then that is different.

Unfortunately the police can't be everywhere and prevent everything. Sometimes people have to use common sense to do the right thing, and think for themselves instead of having the police do it for them. Drag racing in the middle of the night on a dark road falls under the lack of common sense catagory, as you can see from the result.

People and neighbors have been complaining to the police for years about the speed racing. The police were well aware. I'm wondering why the police just didn't have police cars present in those areas. Surely that would discourage the racing. Why did the guy driving the Crown Victoria feel the need to drive off after the speeders left with all the thick smoke lingering in the air? He was aware of the number of people gathered there, and it was not unusual for them to gather in the middle of the road when the speeders drove off? This is truly so very sad, and my heart goes out to all the families. Because of the illegalities, the driver may not be charged, because the people were standing in the road. People are leaving this earth too many, too early too soon.

My sympathy goes out to the family & friends.

However, to those who want to blame the police, I don't agree with you. and to tose who want to blame the driver of the crown victoria(?), I ask why?
