According to court documents, a Frederick husband and wife who launched a nonprofit organization to assist the survivors of violent crime are seeking a divorce amid allegations of domestic abuse. Helga and Randy West founded Witness Justice in 2002.

Court documents say Helga West has accused her husband of domestic violence. She is appealing a judge's refusal last month to extend a temporary protective order prohibiting her husband from having contact with her or their children. The appeal hearing is scheduled for Wednesday in Frederick County Circuit Court.

ABC 7 News myTAKE - What's Your Opinion?Randy West filed for divorce on Jan. 22.

Attempts by The (Frederick) News-Post to reach the Wests were unsuccessful Sunday.
