I feel very sorry for the family of the victims so my heart and prayers go out to them. Md is going to start giving out five points or more for exceeding the speed limit now. WTF? Is the state up to chasing motorcyclist and causing horrific accidents like they did last year. Who's going to stop knowing they are about to get there license taken for exceeding the speed limit? They really need to rethink this. It was a tragedy but do the state really think this will deter street racing. Again someone please tell me why in the heck were folks in the street? You can't tell who won or is winning at 3 AM in the morning standing behind the cars? WTF?

If I ever become senile enough to stand in the middle of an active race track at 3 a.m., someone please shoot me.

I'd feel sorry for the families, but it seems most of the victims' families were standing out there with them!

I'm sorry, I'm getting tired of being asked to feel bad for people who do stupid things. And as many of these people were middle aged, you can't use that tired old excuse, "it's just kids." And it's not like it was 2 guys who happened to meet up at a traffic light and, as sometimes happens, they'll try to take off when the light turns green - these street racers have people posted as lookouts, they use police scanners, so they KNOW what they're doing is wrong. It's too bad that these people were killed and I feel sorry for their families, but what if these cars had plowed into an innocent person driving home from work?

Street Racing should be automatic jail time. It is illegal, it can easily hurt someone to the point of death. It infringes greatly on public safety. They say it is intoxicating? Then charge them with DUI as well. These selfish, dangerous and stupid people need to face the consequencies of their actions. Those that wont stop using our public roadways, as avenues for egos, need to go. An entire (non involved) family can easily be wiped out because of someone behind the wheel of a car lacking respect and resposiblility plows into their car. I can see why he/she is dead, but why must the innocent pay for the stupidity of the individual with the death wish? If I see it, I am reporting it. I am going to get as much information on the situation as I can, and give a 911 shout out to the police.

Yep.. you can't cure stupid. If those who want to race illegally race how about building them a highway in some obscure place and let em break their freaking necks.. but if they are caught on the streets how about giving them 20 years and no probation. One would think people would have more productive things to do with their time than break their necks.. yep.. stupid can't be cured..

Jtspangler...I totally agree.

If you won't stand in the middle of the street in the daylight..why the heck would you do it at night...

This is the rare case where it is fully appropriate to blame the victims. The driver who ran over these poor spectators in the middle of the road in the middle of the night is not at fault for failing to foresee such incredible stupidity. And it will happen again, because as comedian Ron White says, "you can't cure stupid".
