I agree! Since they get away with so much heck all legal US citizens should be able to not pay taxes and collect social security! Better get it while its hot especially since I'm 22 and when I'm old enough to collect there won't be any left!

I think I will renounce my US citizenship so that I can work for cash and pay no FICA, no state income tax, no federal income tax, and no health insurance premiums. Then if I get injured or sick, I can go to the ER and have US taxpayers pay my medical bills. I can go to the Social Security Administration and draw US taxpayer funded SSDI that I never paid a dime into. Of course it is too late for that because I have paid in for years and will never draw because the illegals will have it backrupt before I can ever draw a dime back.

I wish the government would grant me automatic amnesty for laws i dislike. It must be nice to be able to break the law and even be invited to do so and rewarded for it! Here's an idea -- and I have no idea whether it would work, but maybe it's worth a shot. I propose that every illegal alien in this country (both male and female) between the ages of 18 and 30 MUST enlist in the U.S. military. If they're so hellbent on being in this country, they need to be responsible for defending it. Anyone who washes out during basic training would immediately be shipped back to Mexico. This would NOT be negotiable. Let's see how many of these men and women are willing to agree. My guess is that most, if not all, would reconsider their trips across the border.

I agree with the concept of this law passing is another win for the ILLEGALS and the Mex Gov. and a BIG loss to the citizens who pay taxes of this nation, not just Maryland. Anyeone here illegally needs to be sent out NOW, ASAP. Any monies they have accrued needs to be put in a fund for the widows and children of fallen police officers/firefighters and military personnel who have died in battle to save this counrty. Any child born here in these United States of illegal parents needs to have their American citizenship stripped and not give rights to the parents to legal status eligible for green cards. Any monies we have had to pay out for housing/food/medical/schools needs to be tallied and sent to the country of origin of the illegals and their government needs to reimburse the US for money lost. This is an inaccurate report of what took place. The Council did NOT vote to approve the ordinance. It voted to table the proposal by a 3-2 vote. Mayor Miles did not table the proposal by herself. It was a motion that she seconded and then voted for. The mayor in Mount Rainier is basically an at-large councilmember with the added job of chairing the meetings. She can make motions and has equal voting power. Councilmember Alta Morton was the swing vote and although she said in her comments she would support the ordinance, she changed her mind and voted to table the item.

That's just great! I'll start dumping all our illegal gangbangers off at Mt. Rainier, and let them know that they will be welcomed there. Prepare for the influx people! You want them? You can have them! I have to get out of this area, no sense in doing my job here when a whole community wants to cover for them.

I guess the people of Mt. Rainier want increased crime, more gangs, the value of their homes to decrease and their taxes to go higher. This is nothing new with Pedro Briones, the Council Member who introduced this Ordinance. When he was first elected a few years ago, he wanted to allow non citizens to vote in local elections. I believe an individual must be a citizen of this country to have that right.

As a former Council Member of Mt. Rainier, I have seen our city struggle for years with balancing the budget. While I sympathize with people who want to come to this country, I have a problem with Mt. Rainier becoming a sanctuary city. Our small City cannot afford to take on the added cost of dealing with too many people living in one home, added trash to pick up, too many parking issues because of too many cars. We pay more in medical insurance because of the abuse of our ER's because illegal immigrants have no insurance. Our schools are overcrowded, and we cannot afford to higher more teachers and pay higher salaries. This problem needs to be resolved at the Federal level, not by small cities with small budgets. Our elected officials need to stop with wasting time on issues that we cannot change, and get back to the business of balancing our budget, keeping taxes low, providing good Police and Public Works services. Our Federal officials need to pressure the President of Mexico to take care of his people so they will not come here illegally.

The illegals on Virginia?s Eastern Shore have taken advantage of the health care clinics & use the hospital ER as if it is only for them. The residents who have no health insurance are up the creek as they have to pay and pay while the ?badly needed? workers get a free ride. And by the way don?t expect any of the illegals to have car insurance.

Unless things have changed a whole heck of a lot - there is nothing in Mt. Rainier as far as shopping. The only strip mall with a Giant and CVS is actually in Hyattsville. So you can't boycott the shops. Just because it might happen as Luxor says I will never get "used" to it. I agree - what in the world are they thinking about in Mt. Rainier? Of course what can you expect from a place that borders DC and is overrun with apartments. My days living there were great - I loved it and my children walked to school etc but because of the people coming in we had to move. Best thing we ever did. There is no such thing as get used to it, could you get used to either your friends family or yourself, losing a job, a life an identity. This is what is happening in California and other states. This past month a friend lost both her legs (amputated above the knee) she was hit by an illegal alien drunk driver ( deported once before) she was putting her children in their car seats. Her husband was watching when it happened. The man threw his car in reverse and took off ( typical in this situation with illegals). The economy does not improve because they are here, it suffers greatly. And it has been proven Sanctuary cities are dangerous places. Look into it.
