The D.C. Medical Examiner's office say they have positively identified all four of the decomposing bodies discovered inside a Southeast home last January.
Tuesday, the Chief Medical Examiner said the oldest victim, 16-year-old Brittany Jacks was identified through dental records, while her three younger sisters, Tatianna, N'Kiah, and Aja, were all identified through DNA.
The Medical Examiner's office has said there is evidence that the oldest girl had been stabbed.
The other three girls had markings on their necks and other signs of trauma but the girls' bodies are so decomposed, officials cannot determine how and when they died.
U.S. Marshals discovered the bodies after serving an eviction notice at their Southeast home.
Police arrested their mother, 33-year-old Banita Jacks, and charged her with murder.
Jacks is currently being held while a grand jury investigates. A follow-up hearing is set for April 4th.
