EMOTIONS ARE RUNNING HIGH today OVER SUSPENDED DRIVERS.NOT JUST ABOUT THE YOUNG DRIVER WHO RAN INTO THOSE STREET RACING SPECTATORS. OUR VIEWERS ARE SPEAKING OUT ABOUT OUR 7-ON-YOUR-SIDE UNDERCOVER INVESTIGATION CATCHING SUSPENDED DRIVERS IN THE ACT. ROSS MCLAUGHLIN HAS THE FALLOUT.
ROSS MCLAUGHLIN:
WE HIT A NERVE, VIEWERS ARE LEAVING MESSAGES ON OUR WEBSITE AND THEY'RE LEAVING VOICEMAIL.
DRIVING WHILE SUSPENDED IS SOMETHING THAT MOST PEOPLE JUST WON'T TOLERATE. MOST PEOPLE...
STORY:
Unidentified Woman: "That bitch gave me (expletive deleted) 15 days in jail for that (expletive deleted)."
TEMPERS RUN HIGH...ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU LOSE YOUR LICENSE BUT THE PROBLEM IS THAT DOESN'T STOP SOME PEOPLE FROM DRIVING.
Ross: "You lied to the judge you told the judge you didn't drive here Wednesday."
Christopher Freeman:"Yes sir."
SUSPENDED FOR RECKLESS DRIVING. WE WATCHED AS THEY LEFT COURT AND GOT BEHIND THE WHEEL.
Ross: "You were told by the court not to drive."
Lawrence Thompson: "Yeah"
Ross: "Do you remember that?
Lawrence Thompson: "Yeah."
A TRIPLE DUI OFFENDER. SOMETIMES THESE PEOPLE SHOW NO RESPECT FOR THE LAW.
Unidentified Woman: "It's just unfortunate circumstances but I do have respect. I'm not killing anybody, I'm not doing drugs or (expletive deleted) like that."
BUT ACCIDENTS DO HAPPEN JUST ASK MARY. ON OUR WEBSITE SHE WRITES:
Graphic: "My husband was KILLED by a suspended driver on the road when I was 8 months pregnant."
THAT'S WHY IT NEEDS TO STOP.
Sgt Brian Jacobs/Stafford County Sheriff's Department: "Driving is a privilege in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Yes."
Ross: "Not a right?"
Jacobs: "Not a right. It is a privilege."
BUT NOT EVERYBODY AGREES LISTEN TO THIS VOICEMAIL FROM SOMEONE WHO SAYS HE'S A COP.
Anonymous Voicemail: "Ross, this is some weak, weak stuff what a waste of your time and I'm a law enforcement officer."
THIS BLOGGER AGREES.
Graphic: "Unjust laws will be habitually broken especially when people are wrongly convicted...Contact me if you want to know why I drive on a suspended license."
WE DIDN'T HAVE TO BECAUSE WE HEARD IT ON THE STREET.
Ross: "Because you didn't want to get caught?"
Christopher Freeman: "correct."
