D.C. Couple Charged with Human Trafficking

A D.C. couple has been arrested on charges of human trafficking.
Franklin Yasir Mejia-Macedo and Yaneth Martinez are accused of smuggling young women from Mexico and Honduras and forcing them to work as prostitutes. Authorities say Mejia and Martinez handed out business cards advertising "Hair Cuts for Men Only" and "Flowers Home Delivery," and handed them to men on the street. According to the charging documents, that's code for prostitution.
Federal agents arrested the couple at their home on Monday. A 24-year-old woman at the home told agents she worked as a prostitute and shared her earnings with Martinez, according to the documents.
