The Metropolitan Police Department is seeking the public's help in investigating a series of assaults on cab drivers and their vehicles.

There have been seven reported incidents involving such assaults which have occurred between midnight and 4:30 a.m. The incidents took place on Jan. 27, Feb. 3, three on Feb. 9, Feb. 10 and Feb. 22. MPD Detectives are looking into the possibility that the same individual may be responsible for these offenses which appears to target cabs from Maryland.

The general description given to police is a black male described as being in his 30's. He could be operating a vehicle described as a White Ford Crown Victoria.

ABC 7 News myTAKE - What's Your Opinion?Police have not determined if the suspect's vehicle is indeed a taxicab, however the vehicle gives the appearance of that possibility. The vehicle is described as having the numbers "2057" or "2042" in dark letters on the rear and possibly the name "ROPER" on the side.

Police say the suspect should be considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call D.C. police at (202) 727-9099.
