New Bill May Regulate Crisis Pregnancy Centers
posted 2:48 pm Mon February 25, 2008 - ANNAPOLIS, Md.
A proposed Maryland law may require crisis pregnancy centers to be more honest with patients about abortions and birth control.
Delegate Roger Manno of Montgomery County proposed the bill and Delegate Barbara Frush is a co-sponsor. She says people should receive complete, accurate information from medical facilities. A report from a pro-choice organization operating in Maryland says pregnancy centers did not discuss birth control at 11 of Maryland's crisis pregnancy centers.
The House Health and Government Operations committee has a hearing March 14, and the Senate Finance Committee will discuss the bill March 5.
