Praisner's Widower Seeks Her Council Seat
posted 8:44 am Fri February 29, 2008 - ROCKVILLE, Md.
The widower of Montgomery County Council member Marilyn Praisner says he will run in this spring's special election to serve out her term.
Don Praisner says he will officially announce his candidacy Monday with the support of County Executive Isiah Leggett and at least three council members. The retired CIA analyst says that like his wife, he is a fiscal conservative who is not opposed to growth but thinks it should be managed and have the infrastructure to support it.
Marilyn Praisner was the longest serving woman on the Montgomery County Council. She died February first following heart valve replacement surgery. She was 66.
Praisner's district includes parts of Silver Spring, Wheaton, Aspen Hill and Olney.
