WASHINGTON - As crews work to repair a broken six inch water main in NW, some customers in the area will experience a disruption in water service, officials say.

The water main came loose on 22nd Street between K and L Streets Friday night, flooding several blocks near George Washington University Hospital.

A D.C. Water and Sewer Authority (WASA) spokesperson says contractors were repairing a valve at 22nd Street and L Street Northwest Friday. They report it appears the valve has ruptured. The spokesperson says there are no water outages.

Officials from WASA, the D.C. Fire Department and the Metropolitan Police Department (web | news) have responded to the scene.

A George Washington University Hospital spokesperson says the water to the hospital has not been affected.
