(Sports Network) - Cole Aldrich scored 21 points and grabbed seven rebounds as 16th-ranked Kansas overcame a poor start to rally past Kansas State, 85-74, at Bramlage Coliseum.

Sherron Collins had 19 points and six assists for the Jayhawks (20-5, 9-1 Big 12), who rebounded from Monday's loss at Missouri and have won nine of 10. Marcus Morris added 15 points off the bench and Brady Morningstar poured in 12.

Denis Clemente posted a game-high 26 points for the Wildcats (17-8, 6-5), who saw their six-game win streak snapped. Jacob Pullen added 22 points on 4-of-9 shooting from long range while Darren Kent had 12 points and four assists in defeat.

The Jayhawks were down 49-46 early in the second half when a brief burst got them on top for good.

Morningstar kicked things off with a three-pointer, Morris made both shots from the line and Aldrich followed with a slam. Ron Anderson then provided a basket for the Wildcats, but Collins answered with two free throws. Tyrel Reed and Collins then drained consecutive treys to end the 15-2 run and Kansas was up 61-51 with 12 minutes to play.

Kansas State struck back, however, and Pullen completed a rare four-point play with 5:35 remaining after Morningstar fouled him, pulling the Wildcats within 67-65.

After the teams traded buckets, Aldrich finished a three-point play for a 72-67 Kansas lead with 4:26 left. K-State got the deficit down to two on a Kent jump shot, but Tyshawn Taylor's two makes from the line with 2:23 left put Kansas ahead 76-70 and the Jayhawks made 7-of-10 free throws down the stretch to secure the win.

An Aldrich dunk gave the Jayhawks an early 11-10 edge, but KSU exploded, reeling off a monster 20-3 run to take a 30-14 advantage with 8:35 left in the first half. Clemente erupted for 11 points, including three buckets from beyond the arc.

However, Kansas chipped away at the huge deficit, beginning with a Morningstar three, and after Morris hit a long shot, Kansas finished a 24-8 burst for a 38-38 game with 1:38 remaining.

A three from Pullen with 1:14 to go gave the Wildcats a 41-38 edge, but Morningstar drained a three from the left side and Kansas got within 43-42 at the break.
