WASHINGTON, D.C. - Three days after the storm ended, D.C. residents are still struggling to dig out and navigate snow-clogged side streets across the area. With another snow storm just hours away, people are fearing they'll never get out.
D.C. Mayor Adrian Fenty plans to update residents on the progress of snow removal in a 8 a.m. press conference in Northeast. Meanwhile, people are counting down until Mother Nature's next wintry blast.
The National Weather Service (web | news) has issued a winter storm warning for Tuesday into Wednesday. Snow accumulations of 10 to 20 inches are likely, beginning around 2 p.m.
While the city continues to clear roads of old snow ahead of another looming storm, some commuters say D.C.'s snow removal efforts just aren't good enough.
"It's real messed up, its not the way we're supposed to be treated," said Anthony Jones, D.C. resident.
"This is a main street and they havn't done nothing to it so ... it does speak for itself," said Tyrone Brown, Silver Spring resident.
Snow removal crews have been so busy focusing on main roads throughout the area, they simply have not been able to make it to many residential neighborhoods, leaving some residents fed-up and frustrated.
"Treacherous," Brown said. "It's nasty but its gonna even get worst."
Some residents tell us they don't know when they can expect the city to clear streets their neighborhood. And with this new storm on the way, they fear they'll be waiting forever.
