Fleeing Vehicle Crashes During Police Chase

A vehicle being pursued by U.S. Capitol Police collided with several vehicles, including a small commuter bus that overturned, sending three people to the hospital. U.S. Capitol Police say officers tried to stop the vehicle but it took off. The vehicle collided with several parked cars and the commuter bus. The bus driver and two passengers were taken to Washington Hospital Center's MedStar unit with non-life-threatening injuries.
The vehicle being pursued crashed when it hit the median at the intersection of New Jersey Avenue and H Street, NW. Police say the driver fled on foot and was taken into custody near Second and H streets, NW.
Charges against the driver are pending.
