Maryland lawmakers are taking another look Tuesday at a proposal to ban text messaging while driving.
The House Environmental Matters Committee has already rejected one bill that would have banned texting while driving. A slightly different version is up for consideration this afternoon.
Sponsors say texting is more dangerous than talking on a phone while driving because it take a drivers' hands and eyes off the road. But opponents say reckless use of a texting device including a cell phone could already be considered a crime.

Triple-A Mid-Atlantic supports the ban, but several attempts to ban talking on phones while driving in Maryland have failed.
