A D.C. church that was heavily damaged last week in the five-alarm fire that displaced about 200 people from an apartment building next door is operating out of at a temporary home in Prince George's County.

The Meridian Hill Baptist Church in Mount Pleasant was ravaged by last Wednesday's fire. Now it's boarded up and its stained-glass windows are secured.

The 400-member church shared its back wall with the apartment building that was largely destroyed.

The Reverend Calvin Cage says many of the church's services are being transferred to Cathedral of Christ in Chapel Oaks. Cage is also pastor there.

Church members say the move is temporary. Mason Jackson says they've never dealt with such a situation before. But members say they will pray and work hard to restore the church's historic building.
