Prince George's County Officer Rescues Teens from House Fire on Woodmore Road.
A PGPD officer rescued two teenage boys from a house fire Saturday on Woodmore Road. The house sustained substantial damage from the fire that started in the garage. Fire officials say that the officer's actions contributed in saving the lives of the two boys inside.
On March 15, 2008, at approximately 12:40 p.m., Police Officer First Class Jonathan Foote was working a traffic assignment near Woodmore Road. A citizen alerted Officer Foote that a nearby house had heavy smoke bellowing from it and was worried that it may be on fire.
Officer Foote responded to the 13900 block of Woodmore Road and found the garage completely engulfed in flames. Officer Foote entered the house, checked for occupants and found two teenage males asleep inside. They were rescued by Officer Foote and by the Prince George's County Fire Department which responded and extinguished the fire.
District II Commander, Major Anita Rosser, commended the partnership between the community members officer Foot by saying, "This shows great communication between the community and our officers. When the citizen alerted Officer Foote of the situation, he acted quickly to provide the necessary life saving measures for the two teens."
